Follow up from our meeting . . .

So we went to Matthew's school on Friday for our meeting with the principal, teacher and special education teacher.

Well it's not all bad. They did have a lot of positive things to say about Matthew which was nice to hear. It's also interesting to note that Matthew is Matthew is Matthew. He is the same wherever he is and whoever he is with. I've had experiences where parents tell me their child is nothing like I've described at home. They almost have a Jerkyl and Hyde persona. At home one way and at school another.

Not Matthew.

In a nutshell he is a generally happy go lucky little man who is popular amongst his peers, is always out to get a laugh, acts without thinking, has selective hearing and thinks he's someone or somewhere else half the time.

The school is going to keep closer tabs on him during recess and unstructured times and we are going to check into Matthew's hearing, vision and overall health.

I'll keep you posted . . .

I'm glad he stays true to himself, even if it does get him into a spot of trouble here and there.

Really?...you think he might have actual hearing issues? Hmmmm.

Sounds like Matthew is a good kid...he just has that mischevious side. :) Hope things improve for him at school.
