There's Matthew running around our new foundation.
This would be the living room area.
View from the front.
The house beside us is the builder's model home. We are hoping a nice family moves in with oh I don't know . . . maybe a 6 yo boy, 2.5 yo girl and 6 mo baby girl. hehehe Well, I can dream can't I?? It's a pretty nice 3 bd bungalow but not what we need for our family.
So it isn't much yet but I think the framing is starting in a few days and we will go going back to take more pics. It's all very exciting and surreal. We finished up choosing the kitchen cabinets and countertops. They will be a lovely expresso narrow shaker style if you know what that is! I wouldn't have before last weekend!
Last Saturday we went and chose our flooring. Our budget doesn't allow for hardwood floors(but with 3 kids, 2 cats and a dog I wouldn't go with that even if our budget allowed it). Instead we are hoping to get a beautiful laminate throughout the first floor and then carpet upstairs. I don't mind carpet actually. I know many people do not want it in this day and age but I like the comfort level of it. I like softness under my feet.
The next thing on our list is plumbing. We were set to go on Thursday but I had to cancel because we need to go see our lawyer instead. Which kinda leads into my gripe for the day . . .
I feel like I'm the one having to do EVERYTHING with regard to getting things organized for this house. I've been the one making numerous phone calls to the builder and to all the places we've been to pick things for the house. Not only that I've been trying to get everything arranged for our financing. Basically we had to take out a bridge loan because the builder requires $19, 000 to start the building process. Obviously we do not have that kind of money. Well I guess we do but it's tied up into the house we are currently in. So you have to get a "bridge" loan which will be paid off once we close on our old house. Our builder is so cool that he's already started the building process(and it's lucky for us he did because we may not have a house to move into come January).
He hasn't mentioned the money at all . . . yet. We've been working on this bridge since we officially sold our house, it's just been a bit more complicated than we expected. Everything is finally going to come together on Thursday and we should have our money for the builder on Friday. But my beef is mostly with Todd. He's just been expecting me to do everything. If I hadn't made all the phone calls I did nothing would get done. Seriously. I think he just thinks everything will get done on it's own. He really bugs me sometimes.

I remember when we took pics of our foundation. It is such an exciting time. But yet at the same time a stressful time!
There is SO much that is involved in building a house. I remember endless phone calls, paperwork, decisions, and so much more I am not remembering.
Just remember it will all be worth it in the end!!!
That is so exciting seeing the house pictures. I remember watching my parents house as it was built. And once the framing is up, it is so fun to walk thru the house.
Yay!
Your house is going to be amazing! You'll have to post pictures of the entire process. It will be fun to watch it being built.
Good luck with all those decisions. I know that is no easy task!
