Well not really playing hooky. I took yesterday off because Gillian keeps burning up with fevers and then I went to work today but all I could think about on the way there was how hot she was when she woke up and how she wouldn't let me put her down. :( So I told my principal as soon as I got there I needded to leave. Of course when I got to the sitters to pick her up she was back to her happy self because the medication I gave her earlier had kicked in. Mia was so happy to see me, it was kinda funny because I'd just been gone about 40 minutes and she's never that excited to see me at the end of the day when I pick them up.
I brought them all home(well except for Matt who better be having an incident-free day) and we played colouring for awhile and a few other games. Everyone is sleeping now so that's why it feels like playing hooky since I'm not actually sick. There will be a lot to catch up on tomorrow but I'm glad I took another day. Gillian just keeps getting these stupid fevers and it's driving me crazy! I hate having to continually pump medicine in her. I hope it stops soon.
Oh and we've given up the swaddle. She was breaking free of it constantly so there really was no point except for maybe the initial getting her to sleep part. I can't say I've really noticed any big changes in her sleep though so nothing positive or negative to report there. She still wakes up at pretty much the same times. I still bf her around 4 and lately I've been laying her back down in our bed which is going to get her into another habit which will eventually need to be broken.
A friend of Todd's has experience councilling kids and actually worked in a troubled youth center so we have enlisted his help with Matthew. He could tell right away something was wrong at school because Matthew who is normally lively and expressive, all but shutdown when Craig mentioned school to him. He refused to make eye contact and responded with one word answers. Craig seems to think it may be an issue with a peer and maybe a conflict with the teacher. Clearly though Matthew is having problems. We talked all weekend to Matthew about his behaviour. I was pumped and ready to see if any of it would stick when he went to school on Monday. The note from his teacher started with, "Matthew had an overall good day". Hooray!!! But the end of the note goes on to mention a "Hands on incident" at the end of the day. She wasn't specific at all about what the incident was and Matthew was not exactly forthcoming. So now I'm trying to figure out do I praise him for having an overall good day? But I can't ignore even one incident of hands on! No tolerance right? Ugh!
Behaviour modification plans are usually the special education teacher's job so when I asked her about it that's why she mentioned talking to the Spec. Ed. teacher first. What I really wanted to do was have more of a communication book and between the two of us. It doesn't need to involve spec. ed. Heck I'm not always involved in the daily communications between teachers and students. I'm only sometimes involved in behaviour modification plans. It depends on the situation and the severity of the behaviours.
I'm on pins and needles waiting to go get Matthew. I really hope he has a good day with not BUTs!

I hope Matt has a good day today, too! I think they hate having bad days almost as much as we hate them having 'em.
Enjoy your hooky day with the girls! I hope Gillian is better soon!
I hope Miss Gillian is better really soon! Hope the rest of your day went well.
I am anxious to hear how Matt did today. Hope he had a good report.
Glad you got a day at home with your girls...just wish it was under better circumstances!
Hope Matthew is having a VERY good day!!!
How did Matt do yesterday??
I hope it was great with no "BUT's"
Poor Gillian. I hope she stops getting those fevers. Do you think it just might be her teething???
I was wondering about the whole swaddling thing. At least her sleeping didn't go down when you stopped swaddling. Hopefully she starts sleeping well for you soon!
